That is where this must begin.

The great dragon — the ancient serpent, the deceiver of the whole world — has been at his work since the garden. Every human being who ever taught you something false about your covenant with Yahweh was, in all likelihood, themselves a victim of the same deception. Jerome, who changed one word in the fourth century. The Protestant Reformers who inherited his word choice without examining it. The pastors and teachers who taught what they were taught. The physicians who never questioned the system they were trained in.

LORD, forgive them all. Most did not know what they were doing.

And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

Revelation 12:9 does not say Satan deceived the pagans, or the wicked, or the enemies of Yahweh. It says he deceived the whole world. That includes the Church. Not just the body of Christ but the institutions supporting the body. That includes the Bible translators, publishers, and the commentators. That includes every institution that ever claimed to speak for Yahweh while unknowingly carrying the serpent’s alteration to its many approved text.

Hear me. I struggle with why so many Biblical scholars – thousands over the years – could not have seen what I have come to see with deeper reading of the original languages. Surely, they know what I can see – they wrote most of what I have become aware of. Therefore, they must have been sent a powerful delusion allowed by Yahweh Himself.

This is a description of the spiritual battlefield – not an indictment of individuals.

The Bible you are holding is a subtly altered manual. Not a false one – just slightly altered. 99% of the truth is still in it. The prescription is still there. It isn’t perfectly translated into English – but a few critical words were changed, and those words were enough to send the “sick among us” to alternate healers (like physicians) for sixteen hundred years. So many sick bodies and weak souls lost while the full covenant prescription sat powerlessly in plain sight.

Yeshua said it would happen.

“Those who are well have no need of a physician – but those who are sick do.” Mark 2:17

He spoke those words in the present tense – not as prophesy – with layered irony about the spiritually self-satisfied Pharisees and Sadducees. But hear what became literally, historically true almost immediately after He was crucified and the serpent went to work altering God’s prescription:

What started as Yeshua teaching those with ears that the sick need Him – quietly became: the sick need a human physician to be physically healed. Ignore the fact that the Greek word, iatros should never have been translated as “physician” – with a white coat and stethoscope around the neck. The sick need a physician because the deceived Church lost the true prescription in mistranslation and misunderstanding. Because words were replaced with less powerful words – like let them call versus must call; like “the prayer of faith” versus the vow of faithfulness, and like must be healed versus must be saved (Acts 4:12) Because the deceiver of the whole world – the cunning serpent from Genesis 3:1 – is very good at what he does.

Mark 2:17 wasn’t supposed to be a prophesy. Or was it? It was spoken as irony – but it became a description of 21st century reality – a prophesy fulfilled – over the last sixteen hundred years.

It is not too late to learn the truth. It does not have to describe your reality.

“Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from Yahweh? You are not your own – you were bought with a price.” 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Paul is not speaking loosely here. The Greek is more precise here than Peter claimed. (2 Pet 3:16)

Your soma – your body as covenant instrument, the physical vessel through which Yahweh’s prepared works are accomplished in the world – was purchased! Not rented. Not loaned. It was bought at the highest possible price. The title was willingly transferred by the you – one who “confessed with their mouth that Jesus is LORD.” You are no longer the owner but a willing servant. And, as a bond-servant, you are entrusted with what belongs to the Father and the Son.

The Holy Spirit – whom you hopefully have as the natural condition of covenant membership, the new heart Yahweh promised in Ezekiel 36 – dwells in that purchased vessel. Your body is His sanctuary. His naos. A Holy place to be kept clean.

Now understand what Paul understood about the flesh.

The flesh (sarx) – the old nature, self-directed, self-owning – was never purchased. It was displaced. But it does not accept displacement quietly. It still reaches for the keys. It still insists it owns the vehicle. And when the body gets sick, two voices speak.

The Spirit says: you know the name of your healer. You know the prescription. Make the vow. Confess. Call on Yehovah-Rapha. Let Him have full control of the wheel.

The flesh says: that is uncertain. That requires total surrender – like a slave. That requires admitting you cannot manage this yourself. Here is a number you can call. Here is a body repair system with answers.

And the serpent – who has been preparing this moment since before the fourth century – hands the flesh exactly what it wants. A human healthcare system. A name other than the name. A system named pharmakeia dressed as competence and comfort, listed by Paul in Galatians 5 alongside idolatry – not accidentally – because that is precisely what it is. The flesh seeking a substitute for Yahweh’s direct provision. The self-directed driver grabbing the wheel of a vehicle whose title was transferred long ago.

Did Yahweh really say He would heal you? Did Yahweh really say medicine is forbidden?

The Serpent’s way is to create doubt. It is to add to or take away from God’s word. The best way Satan found is to add an easier way to relieve suffering. Drugs do that while thwarting Yahweh’s greater purposes! Satan found a way to thwart out glory to come.

For our light and momentary affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory that is far beyond comparison. 2 Cor 4:17

The Father and the Brother did not purchase your body as a transaction. They purchased it as family. Ephesians 2:10 tells you why – “we are His workmanship, created in Messiah Yeshua for good works, which Yahweh prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”

The vehicle was prepared for a purpose. It has an authorized maintenance manual. It has a mechanic whose name is written into the covenant itself – Yehovah-Rapha, the LORD Who Heals. Not the LORD Who Occasionally Intervenes. Not the LORD Who Recommends a Specialist. The healing of His people is embedded in His covenant name. It is not incidental. It is not optional. It is who He declared Himself to be.

I know many of my brothers and sisters think it is their responsibility to take their body to the human mechanic when it isn’t working right. They truly believe that is obedience to Paul’s statement – how to treat the temple besides avoiding harlots. But the full Bible – Old and New portions – make it clear that sickness is best prevented by obedience to all His commands. It is healed by the prescription in James 5:13-18. No other healer!

He is a God of order. He commanded six days of work and one day of rest – not because He needed the schedule but because covenant life has structure, rhythm, faithful obligation in both directions. He does not make promises He does not keep.

He named Himself your healer. He wrote the prescription. The prescription was altered.

Here is what it actually says.

James 5:14-15 has been in your Bible the entire time.

“Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up.”

The word translated prayer in verse 15 is the Greek word euchē.

In every other occurrence (54 of 55 times) in the New Testament and throughout the Greek translation of the Hebrew scriptures wherever the Hebrew word neder appears – euchē means one thing: a vow. A solemn covenant promise. Hannah’s vow over Samuel. The Nazirite’s oath. The covenant commitment of a people bound to their God. (Go here for full proof of this teaching.)

In James 5:15 – and only here – Jerome rendered it oratio. Intercessory prayer.

That was the alteration. One translator. One word. Fourth century Rome. The institutional Church ratified it. The Reformers inherited it. Every approved English Bible repeated it.

It appeared to be the prayer the elders just prayed while anointing the sick with oil. It wasn’t!

The prescription James wrote did not vanish – though it became ineffective. It was changed just enough to become unrecognizable as a covenant act and familiar as a religious routine. And the sick – holding their altered manuals, sensing something was missing, finding no covenant power in what had become a casual petition – went to the physicians Yeshua said they would need in Mark 2:17.

The serpent is patient. He plays a long game. The game is not over!

The institutional failure does not void the covenant.

Ezekiel prophesied that the shepherds would fail – that they would feed themselves rather than the flock, that the sick would not be healed, that the sheep would be scattered. That prophecy has been fulfilled as completely as Mark 2:17.

But Romans 10:12-13 was not addressed to institutions.

“There is no distinction – the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing His riches on all who call on Him. For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved (sōthēsetai).”

Everyone. Not everyone who finds a compliant elder. Not everyone who belongs to the right congregation. Everyone who calls on the name of Yeshua.

That name of Yeshua – in the context of Acts 3 and 4, where the apostles invoked it over a man lame from birth and he walked – includes healing. Sothenai and sōthēsetai – to be saved, to be made whole, to be healed – is the same word in Acts 4:12, Romans 10:13, and Acts 14:9.

The prescription, restored, looks like this:

You must come to Him when afflicted or sick. You must approach your covenant God as a covenant person – His Name is YHWH – not with a casual request but with the full weight of relationship. You repent of whatever has broken the relationship – known and unknown. You make a vow – euchē – a solemn promise of zealous faithfulness, sealed the way a marriage covenant is sealed, not by emotional feeling but by sworn loyalty until death. You confess. And then you follow Yeshua – pisteuōn, present tense, daily, ongoing – “believing (continuously) so that you might have life”, the way Yeshua described it in John 3:16 to anyone paying attention to the Greek.

for God so loved the world that He gave the only begotten Son, that everyone who is believing in Him may not perish, but may have continuous life. Jn 3:16 (Literal Standard Version)

Not one trip to the altar. A daily walk. Six days of faithful work and one day of rest, for as long as He gives you breath.

Your flesh will reach for the keys again. The serpent will whisper again. Did Yahweh really say?

And now you will know the answer – because you are holding the manual, and now you can see exactly where it was altered, and the name on the title has not changed.

Yehovah-Rapha.

The LORD Who Heals. Covenant name. Unchanged. Unalterable. Available directly – right now, wherever you are, without a compliant elder, without an institution that may have partially recovered this truth, without anything except the name and the vow and the daily walk of faith.

Our Father and the Son purchased your body at great cost. They prepared works for you to walk in. They named themselves your personal healer and wrote the prescription in the manual you are holding.

The Church, deceived by the serpent, altered many words to send God’s children faithfully to the wrong healers. You saw one here. Now you can see all the alterations if you seek clarity and truth.

What you do now is between you and Yehovah-Rapha – the one who is healing you – if you are obedient to His commands. (Ex 15:26) Faithful, Trusting, Believing, and Obeying daily.

Yahweh Bless and keep you!
